Frequently Asked Questions

What is an Escape Room?

The short answer: An escape room is an indoor game where couples or small groups work together to discover clues, solve puzzles, complete a mission and escape the room within a certain time frame. The detailed answer can be found on our blog What is an escape room.

Narrow Escape Rooms have three missions to choose from:

  1. Will you be the heroes and save the world from an alien invasion in our Launch game?
  2. Attempt to be the world’s greatest thieves in Undetected?
  3. Or earn your fortune in The Inheritance?

You can read about our top tips for your first escape room.

What are your prices?

The cost of an escape room depends on the number of people per game:

2-3 players $60 per person

4-6 players $50 per person.

*Bookings are charged at minimum 3 players on Sundays and 4 players on Public Holidays.

Have more than six players? You can book more than one game! We have three games to choose from so can cater for up to 18 players at a time.

This includes:

  • 60 minutes of captivating puzzle play
  • A dedicated game master per booked Escape Room

Launch, Undetected or Inheritance – how do I choose?

We have three escape games to choose from:

Launch is perfect for beginners (0-5 escape rooms) and families. We have rated it 3 out of 5 in terms of difficulty. Don’t be fooled, we call this a beginner room but it doesn’t mean that it is easy!

Aliens have arrived and they want to do more than just phone home. Systematically the world powers have submitted due to the massive destruction within only minutes of their arrival. The trajectory and speed of the Mothership shows Australia is the next target, soldiers have left their post, the hostiles will be here within the hour. You are a special forces team sent in to restore our defences, can you get our missiles online and stop the alien invasion?

Undetected can be varied in terms of difficulty (3 or 4 out of 5) to cater for beginners, children’s parties and family groups through to experienced players.

Narrow Tech Systems is largely known as being at the forefront of scientific discovery. Your team has been handpicked to steal a revolutionary piece of technology that will change the world. It’s the Biggest Score of your lives, its your chance to prove your skills. Stealth is key to the success of this operation. Can you get in, steal the latest technology and get out Undetected?

The Inheritance is rated 5 out of 5 in terms of difficulty and is suitable for experienced players, larger groups (4-6 people), and families with older children.

You receive word that your Aunt May has passed away. She was your favourite Aunt & she wants YOU to inherit her FORTUNE! However her Maid and Butler have other plans, can you find the will or will they take it all?

If you haven’t played either of our games yet, we suggest you start with Launch.

Each game can have up to 6 players, with three escape rooms, we can cater for up to 18 players at a time.

If you have larger groups, consider sending them in smaller teams, make it a challenge – who will be the ultimate team – sales or accounts?

Do you host children’s birthday parties?

At Narrow Escape Rooms we have 2 great games that are suitable for children 8+. In our “Launch” and “Undetected” games children can enjoy wearing uniforms, searching for clues, solving puzzles and achieving their mission. Both games are suitable for 2-6 players.

In Launch, teams will work together to Launch the missiles and save the world from an alien invasion.

Undetected will have them breaking in and stealing a revolutionary piece of technology, then getting out Undetected.

Children 8 to 12 will require an adult in the room (a booking for 6 children will include an adult at no extra cost). Children aged 13 to 16 will require an adult to stay on the premises.

Book a weekday birthday party and save 10% with the voucher code “BIRTHDAY“. This code is valid for Monday to Friday bookings only for groups of 4 or more for our Launch or Undetected escape rooms.

**Not valid NSW School Holidays or Public Holidays

For more details visit our Children’s Parties page.

Do you have Birthday Invitations?

Download your free printable birthday invitation for your child's birthday party at Narrow Escape Rooms. We have a Launch birthday invitation and Undetected birthday invitation depending on which escape room you booked.

What ages? Can children take part?

The puzzles and clues at Narrow Escape Rooms are targeted to adults, however our Launch & Undetected escape rooms are suitable for children 8+ with adult supervision. Narrow Escape rooms is an excellent family activity. Children 8 to 12 will require an adult in the room. 13 to 16 will require an adult to stay on the premises.

Our Launch and Undetected games are also a fun and unique children’s party idea! For more details visit our Children’s Parties page.

The Inheritance is our hardest escape room, not suitable for children’s birthday parties. The Inheritance can be played with children 12+ in a family group or 16+ without an adult. We recommend at least 4 players for the best fun and better chance of success in The Inheritance.

Parents and/or guardians must sign a waiver on behalf of any child under the age of 16, allowing them to participate in the sessions.

I have Claustrophobia, Can I still play an Escape Room?

For those who suffer from claustrophobia or are anxious about playing an escape room, we understand the terms “escape room” and “locked” in can be anxiety-inducing. We have designed our escape rooms to make them as safe and enjoyable as possible. The rooms are large bedroom sized and you can leave the escape room at any time!

What time should I arrive for my booking?

Please arrive 10-15mins prior to your appointment time for a briefing and to ensure everyone is ready for an adventure.

If you are more than 10 minutes late, this may affect the length of your game as we may have a group booked in the room after you.

A booking becomes a no-show and entry will be declined if the team is 30 minutes or more late. In such a situation the money is not refundable and the booking is not changeable.

Do you have wheelchair accessibility?

Unfortunately, the business is on the first floor without wheelchair access.

Check out the Visit Penrith blog highlighting Penrith activities that are wheelchair accessible.

What is your refund policy?

Narrow Escape Rooms does not accept cancellations or provide refunds once the booking is confirmed, however teams can reschedule their booking time if more than 24 hours’ notice is provided. A confirmation email or text message will be sent, outlining the details of the new booking. The original booking will not be rescheduled until a new time has been confirmed by Narrow Escape Rooms.

On The Day

What if we are running late?

If you are more than 10 minutes late, this may affect the length of your game as we may have a group booked in the room after you.

A booking becomes a no-show and entry will be declined if the team is 30 minutes or more late. In such a situation the money is not refundable and the booking is not changeable.

Will there be anyone else in the room with us?

No, the only people in the room will be the people you bring with you.

Where can I put my valuables?

Lockers are provided for your use while you are participating in your game. We ask that you secure your phones as they can distract from the game, may provide an unfair advantage and we like to keep the mystery of the room to those who have yet to play.

If it gets too much for me, can I get out of the room? Am I really locked in?

While the experience gives you the impression you are “locked in”, there is an emergency button that you can use to exit the room at any time. This is for your comfort and safety, and will not count as escaping the room. If you are simply stuck on a puzzle, our rooms are monitored by camera and we can assist with providing you with a clue(s)

There are a larger number of places to eat and drink nearby before or after your game.

Will anyone jump out and scare us?

No, the only people in the room will be the people you bring with you. We can’t help it if you choose to jump out and scare each other.

I told my friends about my booking and they want to come too, can I bring extra people on the day?

You are welcome to bring extra people on the day as long as you don’t exceed the maximum for the room (6 people), you can pay by debit or credit card at the time of your appointment.

Can I come dressed in a costume?

Do I have to be smart to get out?
